Microchipping is the placement of a small chip about the size of a grain of rice under the skin of your pet’s shoulder area. This chip has a unique number encoded on it which can be read using a special scanner. This number is registered on a national database where you and your pet’s details are held. We recommend microchipping as the quickest and easiest way to reunite you and your pet should he/she go missing.
Microchipping is a simple procedure that can be performed during a normal consultation without the need for any anaesthetic. Scanners are held at veterinary surgeries, rescue centres and police stations and are carried by all RSPCA Inspectors and local dog wardens.
It is soon to become law that all dogs must be microchipped so to book an appointment please give us a call
