When pet owners experience a behaviour problem with their dog, a common response is to just put up with the behaviour in the hope that it might get better with time. Behaviour problems can take the fun out of pet ownership and can make an owner’s life miserable. It can also lead to an unhappy existence for the dog as well, as often the situation just gets worse with time.
If you are experiencing a behaviour problem with your dog you may wish to consider a behaviour consultation. When choosing a professional to come and look at your dog it is important to check that they have a good understanding of canine behaviour. Nicole is a provisional member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (APBC), which means having gained the relevant academic qualifications she is gaining the practical experience necessary for full membership.
Before her visit she will ask you to complete a questionnaire to find out more about your dog and the problem behaviour you would like to change. The initial visit lasts approximately 2-3 hours and during this time you can discuss the problem further before Nicole works through any practical exercises and offers recommendations to you. All advice will be written up in a behaviour modification report and sent to you (and also your veterinary surgeon).
Nicole only offers behaviour consultations on veterinary referral. If you are unsure how to go about obtaining a referral from your vet then please contact her for further information. It is very important to rule out any medical reasons for the behaviour problem, so a visit to your vets before the consultation may be recommended. Book a consultation today…
