Our Canine Groom School Academy is an accredited City & Guilds training centre that offers the City & Guilds Level 3 Qualification.

This is a 24 day intensive, professional, dog grooming course that when completed sussessfully will give you your Level 3 City & Guilds.

This is run by Poppy Maney and her team.

All tutors are fully trained, very experienced & capable of dealing with all styles, breeds & temperaments.

We are also the dog grooming tutors for Myerscough College -Voted UK's Number 1 Land Based Study College 2013.

Also the official training centre for Barking Mad Grooming - Voted Uk's number 1 franchisor of the year 2013.

Our Canine Groom School is set on 9 acres of the Ribble Valley country side, Lancashire.
We are one of the only academys in the UK that offer a 24 day professional dog grooming course that can be taken over 12 weekends or over 5 weekday weeks giving greater flexibility to those who work. We can even arrange a flexi course to suit you.

Our course focus’s heavily on practical grooming in a working salon.

With a maximum of 5r students per course you are quaranteed lots of one to one training. Our aim is to teach you grooming as it would be in a REAL salon, and prepare you for running your own business one day.

Week one:
Introduction to dog grooming by teaching all aspects of washing and drying including different drying techniques for different coat types.
Handling dogs in relation to grooming and dealing with difficult and aggressive dogs.
Taking in clients, discussing requirements, customer service and how to make sure your clients come back time after time.
Marketing options if wanting to open your own salon (mobile or a shop).
And finally preparing your washed & dried dogs for the next step of grooming, brushing, nails, cleaning ears, dematting, introduction to different tools used and when to use them.

Week two:
Week 2 will focus on learning clipping techniques, different styles for different breeds, choosing the right blade for your groom, discussing clipping requirements with your client and talking through all different clipping equipment available on the market and which is best for you.

Week three:
PRACTISE PRACTICE PRACTICE all of the above. The key is repetition you will be practicing all you know with tutors on hand all the time.
Introduce scissoring feet and legs, blending with clippers and thinners. Discuss and talk through head shapes ready for week four.

Week Four:
This week concentrates on all the finishing touches scissoring, blending lines etc.Your main focus will be on heads looking at shapes, styles and starting grooming heads yourself.

Week five and six:
Week five and six puts all of the above into practice !
By week five you should be taking in clients, grooming a full dog and offering advice regarding cuts.
Our aim at the end of the course is that our students can go away and BE GROOMERS, of course practice (there’s that word again) is required and speed will come over time but you will have all the knowledge you need to set out on your own weather that be as your own boss or an employee.
At the end of our 24 day course's depending on the level chosen and  you have completed all the assessments you will receive a Canine Groom School Diploma or the Level 3 City & Guilds Qualification.
